Mr. Nahum Liss, head of the Ben Gurion International Airport Security Department, has been hired as a permanent security consultant for Los Angeles International  Airport(LAX), according to the Los Angeles Times.  Mr. Liss will visit LAX at least twice a year and provide consulting throughout.  LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called Ben Gurion “the world’s safest airport” and was impressed by the unobtrusive but comprehensive nature of Israeli airport security.

LAX is considered to be California’s No. 1 terrorist target and has been targeted previously by terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda.  According to LA City Councillman Jack Weiss, this agreement is believed to be the first between a US airport authority and a foreign government agency.
