Overnight, an alert resident of Kfar Chabad taking a late night walk prevented a disaster when he discerned smoke rising from a home in the community.  He immediately approached the house and woke the family sleeping within; trapped by the fire, the parents passed their children out the second-story window before jumping to safety themselves.

Three of the family’s members are listed as lightly injured while the mother, who is pregnant, is listed as light-to-moderately injured.  They were treated by members of the “Hatzolah” emergency medical response organization of Kfar Chabad before being transferred to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital.

Local firefighters contained the fire which was apparently caused by a burning plastic table.
