The Council on Higher Education (CHE) has ruled that it will not recognize the degrees awarded by Ariel University Center (formerly the Academic College of Judea and Samaria) after the school upgraded its academic status to that of a "university center."
The Ariel University Center's Student Union said the decision was a blatant violation of an agreement reached in a meeting between the AUC and the CHE two weeks ago, to avoid any decisions that would harm the AUC's students.
The students said: "We refuse to be a political pawn in the hands of the CHE and Education Minister Tamir." The AUC is located in the community of Ariel in Samaria.
