An American Federal appeals court has upheld a lower court ruling that insurers must honor policies held by victims of Nazi terror. The payout to approximately 50,000 survivors and their relatives is estimated at $50 million to be paid by the Italian Genrali insurance company.
The company said it already has paid $35 million, and a lawyer for one of the victims said in January that claims for another $15 million for 35,000 other people have been submitted.
