The Knesset Law Committee Wednesday passed on second and third readings the "Shai Dromi" bill that allows residents to defend themselves against trespassing thieves.

Dromi was charged with manslaughter last year after he shot at Bedouin thieves who entered his northern Negev farm. His arrest sparked a storm of protest among farmers who have been frequent targets of roving bands of Bedouin thieves who have stolen millions of dollars of farm equipment.
