Lebanese Team Heralded With Syrian Nat'l Anthem at Game

(IsraelNN.com) The Lebanese national soccer team was greeted with the Syrian national anthem at a game in Saudi Arabia this week.
Saudi Prince Sultan bin Fahd ordered the Saudi soccer association to form a committee to investigate the playing of the Syrian national anthem instead of the Lebanese national anthem at the opening of the game, according to Aafaq.org.
The playing of the Syrian anthem was seen by many as a protest of Syria's increasing control in Lebanon with the Syrian-backed Hizbullah receiving veto power recently.
