Muslim critics of the Osama bin Laden jihadist philosophy are struggling to divest terror from the new image of Muslim, Newsweek reported Wednesday. The magazine noted that Bin Laden has built a career of terrorism based on selective quotes from the Koran and questionable declarations from "dubious scholars."
The terrorist leader's "holy war" has left more liberal Muslims with the difficult task of rejecting terrorism in the wake of growing strength of Muslim terrorists. Newsweek stated that a "new vision of Islam, neither bin Laden's nor that of the traditionalists who preceded him, is taking shape." Turkish scholars are compiling commentaries on the Muslim prophet Mohammed, showing more universal values and less extremism in religious practices.
