The surgeons' strike which was planned for Sunday following the stabbing of Dr. Marius Guy was only carried out partially. In the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, where Guy is employed, many of the surgeons are following a routine work schedule. Maariv/NRG reported that other hospitals like Ichilov (Tel Aviv), Beilinson (Petach Tikva) and HaEmek (Afula) are also carrying out planned surgeries. In Rambam (Haifa) and Hillel Yafeh (Hadera) only some of the surgeons are on strike.

The partial nature of the strike is the result of disagreement between the Surgeons' Union and the Medical Union. The Medical Union said the Surgeons' Union is a scientific body, not an administrative one, and should have consulted with them before announcing the strike.
