Thirty-nine percent of Kadima party members would vote for Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in primary elections, according to a poll conducted Thursday by the Dahaf Institute. Twenty-five percent said they would support Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz.
Only 15 percent said they would vote for Public Security Minister Avi Dichter, and eight percent expressed support for Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit. While most Kadima voters said they would vote in a new party leader, a majority of 60 percent said they do not believe that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert needs to step down at this time. Just over 50 percent said that Olmert should resign if he is indicted on corruption charges.
