Report: Attorney Messer 'Afraid' of Olmert

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's personal attorney and friend Uri Messer told police that he was not prepared to confront the Prime Minister with his disclosures of cash transfers because he is afraid of the Prime Minister, according to the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz.

The information that Messer has provided to the police is considered to be more significant than the testimony of American businessman Morris Talansky, media have reported. Sources also said that Messer tried to protect his close friend as well as the Prime Minister's personal aide Shula Zaken in the beginning of the investigation. He eventually broke his silence and cooperated with the police but only on a limited basis.

He reportedly said he felt like an informer and that his career is being destroyed.
