Intel said it will spend $150 million to build a private power plant to supply electricity to its new giant factory in Kiryat Gat. It has published tenders for the generating station, and excess electricity will be sold to the Israel Electric Corp. (IEC).
Several other companies already have announced similar projects to assure constant power and to lower costs. Intel previously began switching to natural gas for its existing plant in Kiryat Gat.
