Bill on First Reading: PM Must Quit if Indicted Reported: 14:42 PM - May/21/08
(IsraelNN.com) The Knesset passed on first reading Wednesday a bill that would require Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign it he is indicted following criminal investigations against him. The latest probe involves suspicions of breach of faith, receiving huge amounts of cash and possible bribery. The bill, sponsored by Labor Knesset Member Ofir-Pines Paz, passed with an absolute majority of 61 MKs against six who opposed it. The measure will be discussed by the Knesset Law Committee.
