Former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore received the 2008 Dan David Prize in a ceremony at Tel Aviv University Monday evening. The $1 million prize was awarded to him and several others for their contribution in raising international awareness on issues of environmental protection and prevention of global pollution.

Gore, already a recipient of the Nobel Prize, announced that he will donate the money from his latest prize to groups that are working for the protection of the environment.
