The Hizbullah opposition in the Lebanese cabinet has rejected a compromise proposal mediated by Qatar that calls for the immediate election of a president and creation of a unity government. Qatar suggested postponing a disputed electoral law, but Hizbullah and pro-Syrian allies refused.
They have insisted on more representation in the cabinet, which would give them veto power over important cabinet decisions. Qatar also suggested settling the question of Hizbullah's arsenal, but the terrorist party's senior legislator Mohamed Ra'ad stated, "The issue of the resistance, its arms and capabilities is not up for discussion."
