Arab terrorists are using the sea to smuggle rockets into Gaza for attacks against Israel, Kadima Knesset Member Yitzchak Ben Israel told Army Radio Monday. "In general, we tend to greatly exaggerate the gravity of the subject of arms smuggling from Egypt," said Ben Israel, who also is one of the country's leading weapons experts.

He explained that the rockets are floated in special canisters that are dropped from ships that come from ports in Egypt and Lebanon. "It is very hard to stop such a thing, because you cannot scour every centimeter of the beach for small containers," Ben Israel added. Likud MK Yuval Shteinitz, former chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, countered MK Ben Israel's claim, stating the smuggling by sea makes up only a "tiny fraction" of the arms that reach Gaza.
