The IDF, agreeing to another "good will" measure for the Palestinian Authority (PA), is allowing it to establish 20 police stations throughout Judea and Samaria, one of them near the destroyed Jewish community of Homesh in northern Samaria. Four police stations already are operating in the Kalkilya and Tulkarm areas. Both cities are located close to the 1949 Armistice Line (Green Line), several miles east of Kfar Saba and Netanya.
The move comes a day after the removal of a key roadblock at the southern edge of Hevron, where several terrorist attacks occurred over the past several years killing and wounding Israelis. Another barrier was removed a short time ago between Jericho and the Dead Sea, and up to 70 others are being dismantled.
The Defense Ministry has insisted that the latest relaxation of security measures will be rescinded if there is an escalation in terrorism.
