Google founder Sergei Brin was busy this week checking into Israeli companies doing research in the area of alternative and renewable energy, according to an interview published in The Marker. The 34-year-old entrepeneur was one of the main panelists at President Shimon Peres's star-studded "Facing Tomorrow" presidential conference last week.
Brin and other Google executives met with their counterparts from one particular company, Ormat, which is working in the field of geothermal energy. The firm has a plant in Desert Peak, Nevada. Google is interested in investing in companies that will produce electricity from renewable sources that will be cheaper than electricity produced from coal, according to Google executive Larry Page.
