The Hamas terrorist authority in Gaza prevented a march organized by the rival Fatah gang marking "Nakba Day" Thursday, Al-Kuds Al-Arabi newspaper reported. According to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, Hamas called on Arabs to join its fight against Israel and demanded that PA/Fatah head Mahmoud Abbas "wake up from the illusion" of negotiations with Israel. Abbas, on the other hand, said the negotiations should go on.
"Nakba Day" events mark Arabs' defeat by the hands of the Jews in the Land of Israel in 1948.
Besides the PA-controlled territories, "Nakba Day" demonstrations took place in Amman, Cairo, Damascus, southern Lebanon and elsewhere Thursday.
