The best-selling Israeli book at the Turin International Book Fair is "When the Fish and the Shark First Met", which is based on a tale written by IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who is being held captive by terrorists in Gaza.
As the book fair ended Monday, members of the Israel-Italy Friendship Association, who operated the Israeli stand, announced emotionally that Shalit's book had sold the largest number of copies.
The book is based on a story written by Shalit about 10 years ago. Gilad's father, Noam, said: “The story speaks for itself. An 11-year-old child wrote this story, which is so very relevant to the situation he finds himself in today… It speaks of two mortal enemies who come to the conclusion that it is better to live peacefully side by side than eat the other alive. They overcome their mothers' mutual suspicions and fears to become fast friends.”
