The city of Eilat was hit by heavy rains on Thursday night, and rains are expected to continue until Friday morning. Weather forecasters said that despite the surprise expressed by many Israelis who witnessed the rainstorm, heavy rains are actually typical for Eilat and surrounding cities at this time of year.
Cities in the south often receive much of their annual rainfall during the early summer months, weather experts said. Experts said they did not believe Thursday night’s rainstorm would cause flooding in the area.
