MK David Tal (Kadima) called upon the army and government to "hit the Hamas's heads and take apart the leadership in the evil organization." He added: "Israel must chop off the hand that fires missiles at it. We must not wait for large disasters."

MK Gideon Saar (Likud) said that the attack on Ashkelon was "the result of the ongoing policy of weakness and restraint of the Olmert-Barak-Livni government, which causes the civilians in the south to be neglected."

Saar said: "We must come out of the paralysis and launch a large scale military operation in order to bring back security to the residents of the south."
