Hizbullah Mistranslates, Slams Siniora

(IsraelNN.com) Hizbullah slammed Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora on Tuesday after mistranslating an editorial written in Yediot Acharonot. In the editorial, Nahum Barnea warned that Israel’s government could lose control of the country as happened in Lebanon, saying, “One day we will wake up and discover that our prime minister is Fouad Siniora... Someone who orders the army to operate, but the army chief ignores him...”

Hizbullah’s station, Al-Manar, apparently believed that Barnea’s statement regarding Siniora was an admission of strong ties between Siniora and Israel. The station ran a breaking report accusing Siniora of secret ties with Israeli leaders.

Yediot Acharonot writers said the incident “serves to demonstrate Hizbullah's keenness to smear Siniora and the anti-Syrian camp in Lebanon at all cost.”
