MK Yuval Shteinitz (Likud) told the UN's local representative that the organization must act to prevent Lebanon from falling into the hands of Hizbullah.

"The UN's failure to take effective action against Iran's nuclear program, as well as its takeover of Lebanon constitutes a warning sign that the UN is unable to fulfill the role with which it is charged," Shteinitz said.

He called on the UN to take concrete steps to shore up Lebanese independence from Hizbullah and its Iranian and Syrian backers.
