Arab League Divided on Hizbullah Clashes in Lebanon

(IsraelNN.com) Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo Monday were divided on a resolution that condemned Hizbullah for the latest violence in Lebanon. Syria strongly objected to the resolution, which referred to "the use of armed violence to achieve political goals outside the framework of constitutional legitimacy and the need for a withdrawal of all weapons from the streets."

Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates drafted the proposal, which the United States welcomed.
