Thousands protested on Monday night on behalf of Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence in the United States for passing classified information to Israel. Pollard’s wife, Esther, was present at the protest, which took place in Jerusalem’s Paris Square.
Earlier in the day activists made a human chain from the US consulate to the Prime Minister’s house while calling for Pollard’s release. The information Pollard provided was critical to Israel’s security, they said, and Israel owes him a debt of gratitude and is obligated to work for his release.
