(IsraelNN.com) As Prime Minister Ehud Olmert faces a fresh round of corruption charges, a long-time supporter claims repeated investigations surrounding Olmert amount to little more than a witch hunt against the prime minister.

The accusation was made to The Jerusalem Post by the former director of the New Jerusalem Foundation, a charitable organization that supports culture and relief efforts in the capital. The Foundation was founded by Ehud Olmert in 1999 while he was mayor of Jerusalem. Former foundation head Zvi Raviv said the prime minister has been "tarred and feathered," and that the investigations strike a blow to his confidence in Israel's justice system.  "Is there [an] attempt to depose the prime minister by people who are supposed to keep law in this country?" he asked the Post.
