All Jews who were subjected to Nazi persecution during World War II are eligible for restitution funds under Israeli law, according to a ruling by Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court Justice Muki Landman.
The decision, which set a legal precedent on Sunday, overturned a previous court ruling that limited eligibility for restitution only to those Jews who were taken to concentration camps during the Holocaust. Landman is the chairman of the appeals committee for the Victims of Nazi Persecution Restitution Act.
