(IsraelNN.com) President Shimon Peres said Wednesday that Israel could be a “daring laboratory” in the worldwide push towards more advanced technologies.  Due to Israel’s small size, the country “cannot become a big market or a big industry,” Peres told the Associated Press, but can still make a significant contribution through its researchers.

Peres opened the Facing Tomorrow exhibit at the Binyanei HaUma (Jerusalem Convention Center) on Thursday.  The exhibit features 60 leading Israeli innovations.  Later in the day Peres will present excellence in service awards to dozens of IDF soldiers, and will host a 60th birthday party for Israelis born on the day that the modern state of Israel first officially declared independence.
