This morning (Thursday), thousands of Jews are expected to climb the hill to the ruins of Homesh in northern Samaria, which was destroyed in the summer of 2005 by Ariel Sharon's government. The ascent this year has received the approval of the security forces and has been fully coordinated with them. Kids' attractions as well as lessons and activities will be available.

A march will begin at Shavei Shomeron and reach the train station at Sebastia. From Sebastia, the marchers will take buses to Homesh. 60 Sderot residents will join the marchers. They will call for a return to Homesh in order to prevent the entire coastal plain from experiencing the same plight as their town.

Techiya Zoldan, whose husband Ido (may Hashem avenge his blood) was a leader of the Homesh group, told Arutz Sheva that "the ascent to Homesh is the most fitting present for Israel on Independence Day."
