"There is no one in Israel to whom the price of war is alien," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Wednesday at the opening ceremonies at the Har Herzl Military Cemetery marking Remembrance Day for Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism.
Addressing families who mourn relatives, he said after the traditional two-minutes of silence under a wailing siren, "We will always hold in our hearts a debt of honor to your children." Defense Minster Ehud Barak attended a ceremony at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery in Jerusalem. Remembrance Day will end at sundown Wednesday, when flags will be returned to full mast, marking the beginning of Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day).
