Twenty-two year old Tamar Shahak of central Israel was murdered in Peru on Sunday, Foreign Ministry officials announced. Her family has been identified. Israeli officials are working with Peruvian police to investigate the murder. Israel has turned to Interpol for assistance as well.

News of Shahak’s death arrived shortly after five young Israelis were killed in a jeep accident in Bolivia. The victims were identified as 21-year-olds Ortal Ducas, Sivan Budnizky, Daniela Atzmon, and Adi Roseman, four childhood friends from Haifa, and 22-year-old Liran Mizrahi of Tel Aviv.
