A New York rabbi has determined that a copy of this week's New York Times must be treated as "genizah" and be buried because a picture of a Torah scroll clearly shows the name of the Almighty, Yeshiva World News reported. The newspaper published the photo to accompany an article about a Torah scroll that was hidden in a synagogue that the Nazi regime made into part of the Auschwitz death camp.
The scroll later was discovered and recently was repaired and brought to a New York Reform temple, where it was re-dedicated on Wednesday, the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
