Google Earth, which has been charged with several anti-Israel manipulations, now has gone pro-Arab by changing the name of the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Gulf. Iranians, who do not consider themselves Arabs, have protested the description, which ignores their heritage as Persians, a word derived from the ancient Greek name for Iran's maritime province.
Persia for hundreds of years has been the word to describe the nation known today as Iran, which is located on the Persian Gulf. Several Arab sheikhdoms and emirates border the other side of the gulf.
