The song Jerusalem of Gold, by Naomi Shemer was chosen from among eleven other tunes to be the official song of Israel's 60th Independence Day celebrations Monday night.

The song was voted upon by viewers of a televised program in which all the tunes were presented, with a panel of judges offering their opinions as well.

The song, composed shortly before the 1967 Six Day War, saw verses added after the victory refering to the Temple Mount, Jericho and other areas liberated in the miraculous victory.
