Major General Yoav Gallant, head of the Soutehrn Command, awarded a field commander Sunday night for bravery in counterterrorist operations in Gaza. The recipient, Lt. Shimon Sisso, said that Hamas is "organized like a proper army." Other Golani soldiers also were cited for their efforts.
Lt. Sisso said his troops spotted an armed gunman inside a building where they were positioned. They shot the terrorist when he moved, and a bomb that he was carrying exploded. Two other terrorists opened fire at the soldiers, who were temporarily in danger of being overwhelmed. They then ran outside, shot and threw a grenade before overtaking the terrorists.
