Fiamma Nirenstein, a native of Florence who now lives in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood, has been elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies as a member of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's center-right People of Liberty Party .

Nirenstein is a prolific author and journalist, and a former director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv. She has published widely about the Middle East, Israel, anti-Semitism and radical Islam.
