Terror Scare in Nahariya After Thief Dumps Gun

A Kalashnikov rifle and ammunition which was apparently thrown out of a car by a thief caused a terror alert in Nahariya Wednesday evening. The terror scare was triggered when a man in a car on road from Nahariya to the Kabri Junction threw the rifle and ammunition out of his car's window.

A driver who was traveling behind the car stopped his vehicle at the side of the road and picked up the rifle after jotting down the other car's license plate number. He informed the police, who assumed that the gun belonged to a terrorist. Roadblocks were put up and numerous squad cars were called in, as was a helicopter.

Police located the suspicious car and chased it through the Ein Sarah neighborhood and Nahariya's cemetery. The driver was apprehended and police said he was not a terrorist but apparently a robber.
