Syrian Minister for Expatriate Affairs, Buthaina Shaaban, confirmed Wednesday the reports that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert offered that Israel cede the Golan Heights to Syria.
"Olmert is ready for peace with Syria in accordance with international conditions and in return for a full withdrawal from the Golan," Shaaban told Al Jazeera news network. She also confirmed that the message from Olmert was relayed through Turkey.
Shaaban is considered to be one of the spokesmen of the Syrian government. She was in charge of foreign press relations for the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
