Esther Pollard, wife of jailed former Pentagon worker Jonathan Pollard, told Voice of Israel government radio Wednesday morning "it is nonsense" to link her husband with Tuesday's arrest of 85-year-old Ben-Ami Kadish on similar charges. She criticized Israeli media for calling the affair "Pollard Number 2." Kadish worked in an American army Armament Research, Development and Engineering center and never worked for the Pentagon.
When asked if the latest arrest would interfere with government efforts to free her husband, Esther Pollard retorted, "What efforts? The government is making no effort to free him." Pollard has served 23 years since being sentenced to jail for life, although the normal punishment for similar offenses is four years in prison.
