Sun D'Or, a subsidiary of El Al airlines, has applied to become a commercial airline with flights to a number of European and US cities.
Sun D'or intends to offer low-cost flights competing with foreign companies, mainly in Europe and the UK. Some of its initial routes will be to Antalya, Turkey; Verona, Italy and Zagreb, Croatia.
The airline will also operate on the Sabbath and holidays, unlike its parent company El Al. That fact mirrors a recent commercial arrangement that sparked outrage in the Hareidi Religious community regarding a supermarket chain that had a subsidiary of convenience stores that were open on the Sabbath.
