The IDF has denied Arab charges that it targeted Gaza resident and Reuters News Agency cameraman Fadel Shana, who was killed last week. IDF spokesmen said the armed forces are probing the death and emphasized "that unlike terrorist organizations, [the IDF] not only does not deliberately target uninvolved civilians [but] it also uses means to avoid such incidents. Reports claiming the opposite are false and misleading."

A tank shell hit Shana as he got out of his vehicle to film an Israeli tank. At his burial, his body was draped in a Palestinian flag. Palestinian Authority information minister Riad Malki led marchers with a banner stating, "The occupiers are responsible for the blood of our colleague."
