Former United Nations investigator John Dugard said Thursday that the UN should talk with Hamas in order to “end the madness.” Dugard, a South African professor, was appointed by the UN Human Rights Council to investigate the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. He was recently replaced by Princeton professor Richard Falk.
Dugard called on the UN to push for direct talks between Israel and Hamas. Israeli officials say they will not hold direct negotiations with Hamas until the group stops calling for Israel’s destruction and the murder of all Israelis and Jews.
