Attorney General Menachem Mazuz has affirmed the right of businesses to sell bread and other leavened products – chametz – on Passover in the State of Israel.
Mazuz published his opinion Tuesday morning that it is permissible to sell chametz in Israel as long as the sale is not carried out in the public eye. The ruling upholds an earlier decision by the Jerusalem Municipal Court allowing stores and restaurants to sell leavened products inside their establishments.
