The Ministry of Communications will soon make toll-free calls to 1-800 and 1-801 numbers free for cell phone users.  Cellular operaters have been charging NIS 0.22, plus Value Added Tax (VAT) per minute for calls, which are free of charge from land lines.

The ministry says the public should no longer be misled as to the cost of calls from toll-free numbers, regardless of the type of phone from which they call.
