Nineteen-year-old Osher Adrian of Ashdod frightened his doctors and parents earlier this week when he fled Kaplan hospital in Rehovot, leaving no clue of his whereabouts.  The teen was located hours later in a nearby IDF recruitment office.

Adrian was hospitalized last week following a car crash, and doctors said they would need to keep him in the hospital for observation.  The teen explained to Maariv that he was afraid he would miss his enlistment date.  Despite his parents’ promise to seek a short deferral, he said, he was unwilling to risk the possibility of being forced to postpone his enlistment.

After enlisting and receiving his uniform Adrian began to feel ill and was taken to an IDF clinic, where he told the doctor that he was supposed to be in the hospital.  The doctor was shocked by his confession, Adrian said, but praised his determination before returning him to Kaplan—this time in uniform.
