Army soldiers arrested 30 terrorists in and around Shechem Tuesday night, including 25 members of the Fatah party headed by Palestinian Authority (PA), according to PA sources. Four Hamas members were arrested in Kalkilya, adjacent to Kfar Saba. The IDF has not commented on the report except to state that 19 wanted terrorists were arrested throughout Judea and Samaria.
The PA has deployed more than 300 American-trained policemen in Shechem, where it is trying to prove that it maintains law and order. However, the policemen do not patrol at night, and Israeli military officials have said that the army's counterterrorist operations are the main reason that the PA has been able to maintain law and order.
