Authorities in Gaza said Sunday that a five-year-old boy had been killed by IDF fire in clashes in the city of Al-Bureij earlier in the day.  Local doctors said the child was killed by an IDF tank shell.

However, terrorists who clashed with IDF soldiers admitted that they had used anti-tank missiles and mortar shells during the fight, and IDF officials said the child may have been killed by a misfired shell.  IDF spokesmen confirmed that soldiers had fired on terrorists in Al-Bureij after coming under attack, but said the soldiers had not noted any casualties.

A resident of Gaza was killed less than 24 hours earlier in what appears to have been a terrorist rocket attack that missed its mark.  Gaza medical officials initially blamed the man’s death on IDF shelling.
