Today is the First of Nissan, a month connected with redemption in Jewish faith. The Pesach holiday, marking Israel's redemption from Egypt, occurs in this month. Future redemptions are also predicted to take place in Nissan: the Talmudic Sages said that "in Nissan [Israel] were redeemed and in Nissan they shall be redeemed."
The first day of Nissan is, according to tradition, the day on which the Holy Tabernacle was built in the desert, thus marking the beginning of the time that the Shechina, or Divine Spirit, began its presence amidst Israel.
