The Chairwoman of the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women, MK Lia Shemtov (Yisrael Beiteinu) reacted to the incident outside the Knesset Sunday by stating that the State does not do enough for "single parent mothers."

"A situation in which a single-parent mother threatens to blow herself up with her children is an expression of the fact that the government and the authorities are not doing enough to deal with the difficult problems facing single-parent mothers."

More than two thirds of single-parent households in Israel are headed by divorced or separated mothers.
