With most yeshivot and high schools beginning a nearly month-long vacation for Pesach this week, rescue officials on the Golan issued a call to students who come for hikes and camping trips in the region to take care and act in a safe manner. The officials said that in the past, carelessness on the part of hikers and campers has been the cause of incidents where students were with injured or even killed, because they were either unprepared for the hazards of their trip or they had acted in a foolish manner.

Before embarking on a hike or camping trip, the officials urged students to thoroughly investigate their route, and to consult with guides at the entrance to national parks and camping sites as to conditions and what equipment they needed.
